Our CPD Award Understanding the Visitor Experience (SCQF level 11) explores the multidisciplinary field of visitor studies, helping you understand how people experience, interpret and engage with cultural, heritage and tourism environments. Learn how visitor experience, audience research and evaluation practice come together to build both a strong theoretical foundation and practical skills.
Develop a critical understanding of how and why people engage with places by exploring the complete visitor journey across museums, heritage sites, tourism destinations and community settings. Gain hands on experience with essential research techniques, including formative and summative evaluation, and learn how to investigate and improve visitor experiences at every stage of a project.
Apply your learning to real world challenges by analysing and comparing case studies from across the sector, exploring the theories that shape them, and designing your own visitor research project. - You will study this course fully online, with no scheduled sessions or tutorials
- Online study will be done via the university's virtual learning environment (VLE), with support from your tutors
- You will take part in a mandatory online induction in January
