This webinar will explore the transformative power of Talis Aspire resource lists. Designed to streamline resource management and foster collaboration, Talis offers a wealth of benefits for academics, librarians, and students alike.

Benefits for Academics: Collaboration between librarians and academics is key to enhancing the learning experience. Talis facilitates seamless communication and collaboration, allowing academics to easily request resources, annotate readings, and provide additional context. By integrating resource lists and sections directly into the VLE, academics can enhance course structure and provide students with a curated selection of resources tailored to their needs. Integration with other systems means very little manual entry is required.

Benefits for Librarians: Librarians play a pivotal role in curating and managing resources essential for academic success. With Talis, librarians can efficiently create and maintain reading lists in conjunction with academics, ensuring that students have access to relevant and up-to-date materials. The system simplifies copyright compliance and resource procurement, freeing up valuable time for librarians to focus on supporting teaching and research initiatives.

Benefits for Students: Central to the student experience is access to comprehensive and current resources that support learning objectives. Talis empowers students by providing easy access to course materials, digitised readings, and multimedia resources. The intuitive interface allows students to navigate their lists effortlessly, access supplementary materials, monitor their progress, and engage with course content in a meaningful way, ultimately enhancing their learning outcomes.
During the session, we will explore practical applications of Talis, highlighting real-world examples of how it has revolutionised resource management and collaboration at UHI. The presenters will highlight how all user groups benefit from academic involvement in the list editing process and enriched course materials.

Presenter Bio

Richard Hughes is the University Librarian and responsible for co-ordinating library activity across the partnership. The library service provides a variety of systems and eResources to the benefit of student and staff across UHI, including Talis Aspire resource Lists.

Lucy Dean is a late medieval and early modern historian who works on Scotland and Europe with a keen interest in ceremony and ritual, monarchy and kingship, gender and masculinity, coming of age and the life cycle, material culture and public history. Lucy was one of the first academics in UHI to edit her own resource lists.
