Magnus Magnusson Essay Prize success

Two INS students have achieved success in the 2020 Magnus Magnusson Essay Prize from the Scottish Society for Northern Studies. The prize was awarded to Peter Church, who has recently completed his MLitt in Viking Studies for his essay entitled ‘Why are there very few Scandinavian place-names in Ireland?’.

Gabrielle Barnby, who is currently undertaking an MLitt in Highlands and Islands Literature, was one of two other entries specially commended by the judges. Her essay was entitled ‘Love, grief and recovery in North End of Eden by Christine De Luca’.

Congratulations to both!
