International on-campus students on a Student Route Visa
To study with us in person in Scotland via Student Immigration Route, the requirements will vary depending on where you are from:
Students from majority English speaking countries
If you are from, or have studied in, a country that the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) consider to be a majority English speaking country then you may not have to prove your English language ability for visa purposes.
- The UK government classifies these overseas countries as majority native English speaking.
Students from non-majority English speaking countries
Undergraduate and postgraduate entry
We accept a number of verified approved tests for entry to bachelor's degree and postgraduate programmes. Our minimum requirements are:
- IELTS Academic
- For undergraduate entry: Overall score of 6.0 with no element below 5.5
- For postgraduate entry: Overall score of 6.6 with no element below 6.0
- or, one of our other approved tests
We will accept an IELTS (Academic) test that has been taken at any test centre, so this means you do not need to take this at a UKVI approved centre.
HNC/HND entry
For entry to HNC/D courses, we require either:
- IELTS for UKVI (Academic) with an overall score of 5.5 with no element below 5.0
- or, LanguageCert International ESOL SELT B2 with an overall score of 60 with no element below 55
This must have been taken at a UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) approved test centre. If you are applying for IELTS from outside the UK, you should sit the exam at an IELTS test location in your home country.
