Session Outline

Learning communities can therefore have an important role to play in ensuring students feel connected with each other and with their teaching teams.  The need for learning communities exists for all our students, regardless of whether they are studying in a face-to-face setting, fully online or at a distance.  Data from the NSS, PTES and other surveys also consistently show that students would like more opportunities to connect with peers.

This session will highlight the importance of building effective learning communities and will provide various examples of how this can be achieved in practice.  The session will feature top tips from both staff and student perspectives, covering academic societies, extra-curricular learning opportunities, and online communities.

Presenters

This event will be chaired by Iain Morrison, Dean of Student Experience and will feature various speakers from across UHI, as well as from HISA, the Highlands and Islands Students’ Association.
