Golf education at Dornoch

The UHI Centre for Golf is located in the ancient town of Dornoch in Sutherland, home of the world renowned Royal Dornoch Golf Club. A partner of the Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) for the delivery of PGA education in Scotland, we attract students from across the world, offering a rich mix of practical and academic teaching with strong industry links. Our courses create fully qualified students across a range of roles in the golf industry from management to coaching and performance.

Crucial for our students is the opportunity to develop their skills by playing competitive golf at national standards. In 2022, UHI’s golf team won the Scottish University championship with a 7-5 victory in the final over the University of Stirling which has held the title for nine consecutive years! This is the first national title a team from UHI have won and is testament to the work and dedication of our students.

Our ability to defend this title and others is dependent on philanthropic support for entry fees, travel and accommodation. Our students travel in cars, trains, and overnight buses to play in these matches, and despite keeping costs as low as possible, each away match costs in the region of £1,500 for our team.

We are seeking donations to support our men’s golf team to defend their Scottish title and to compete in the British University Championships and the R&A Tour Series. And, for the first time, we would like to support a women’s team to enter the Scottish University championships. We have some very talented female golfers on our courses, but to date we have been unable to financially support a women’s team.

If you have a passion for golf and would like to help students on their journey, please donate whatever you can.
