Two Module Leader Induction Programmes will be held online via Microsoft Teams early in academic year 2026-27.
The programme has been devised to support new module leaders and module leaders who may wish an ‘update’, with contributions from across Faculties, Cognate Subject Groups, HISA, Library, Student Support and Academic Standards and Enhancement.  
Colleagues are encouraged to attend both sessions. however this is not compulsory.

Programme

13.00– 13.30: Welcome and introduction to the programme and touch on strategic priorities: Professor Keith Smyth Dean of Learning, Teaching and Students, Professor of Pedagogy (including signposting to online resources) 
 
13.30 – 14.15: Familiarisation with Faculties and Cognate Subject Groups: Associate Deans Iain MacInnes and Vik Kelly-Teare 
14.15-14.20: Break 
14.20 – 15.05: Top tips from experienced Module Leaders, opportunity for a breakout space and discussion. 
15.05 – 15.35: Academic Standards and Enhancement including Module descriptors and module modifications/changes to module leadership: Elaine Edwards Faculty Liaison Advisor ASE  
15.35-15.40: Break 
15.40-16.15: Exam Boards expectations and SRO (how to enter marks, MCs, late penalties etc): Sharon Rankin/Gillian Maclellan  
16.15 – 16.45: Module evaluation and reporting: Kevin Sinclair 
  • Evaluating your module through the Module Self Evaluation Document (SED) and external surveys e.g. National Student Survey NSS and Post Taught Experience Survey (PTES) 
  • The Quality Monitoring Cycle including Metis reporting 
16.45: Close and thank you
