Call for applications for 2023-24 is now closed

The call for applications for the AdvanceHE Aurora leadership Development programme for 2023-24 is now closed and we have selected the cohort. You can find out more about them here: Advance HE Aurora Leadership Development Programme - Aurora 2023-24 (uhi.ac.uk)

Thinking about applying for 2024-25?

If you are thinking of applying for a place for the 2024-25 programme, subject to confirmation of funding for places, you can prepare by reviewing the application form and guidance from 2023-24. The application form does not change that much and for next year it may be an online form via MS Forms. However, the main questions which explore your views and aspirations on leadership are questions 15 to 20 and I would encourage you to start reflecting on these questions and jot down some ideas.

I would also encourage you to review AdvanceHE’s website particularly the case studies AdvanceHE Aurora. Previous UHI cohorts have also recorded a video memento which you can access against each cohort’s UHI webpage: UHI Aurora: these are really worth a watch!

Application timeline

As UHI’s Aurora Champion I am advised by AdvanceHE of the Scotland cohort dates about mid- to late-June each year and the programme usually starts in October or November. This means that we have a quite short turnaround time between the call for applications going live (late June) and the deadline for completed applications (mid to late August), particularly since academic and research staff tend to be on summer break over that period.

Applications will be considered by a selection panel made up of institutional Aurora Champions and existing Aurorans. The panel meets in early to mid-September and applicants will be notified of the results, by email, shortly after the selection decisions have been made.

Further information

I am also going to be delivering a couple of All About Aurora webinars in the early part of semester 2 2023-24. Keep an eye on the LTA’s Events & webinars for more information.

Remember all of this is dependent on whether there is funding for places for 2024-25 and that usually isn’t known until June or July. It makes sense to get as much preparation done in advance so that your application is not rushed but is considered and suitably reflective.

If you have any questions at all about the programme, preparing your application or the process please do not hesitate to contact me at lta@uhi.ac.uk.

I look forward to receiving your application!

With very best wishes
