Professor Neil Simco - Vice Principal

Professor Neil Simco is the Vice Principal (Research and Impact) holding leadership responsibility for the oversight of research and knowledge exchange activity across the university. This involves oversight of all aspects of the university’s strategy in research and knowledge exchange, preparations for the REF 2021, the university’s graduate school, quality assurance and enhancement and the development of research-teaching linkages. He speaks of his enjoyment of learning the language. As an enthusiastic learner and user of Scottish Gaelic, Neil oversees the development and delivery of the university’s Gaelic language plan.

Donald J. MacIntyre - Gaelic Officer

Donald J. MacIntyre, the UHI’s Gaelic Officer talks about how the university supports Gaelic learners and speakers and the importance of this to keep the language alive. As Gaelic Officer, his role is to ensure that Gaelic is given the same status and exposure as English throughout the communications, marketing and day-to-day operations of the university. He encourages all to ‘give it a go’ as all around us we have access to Gaelic, see Gaelic and use Gaelic across Scotland.
